Boxing Day Shopping Tips
December 26 is the official Boxing Day in US,it is also considered as a holiday,I’m not sure if it is federal or just a civic holiday in which I seriously have no idea why, all I know is it’s another great day to go shopping. If you did went shopping last December 26 and survived the chaos, then good for you, and since the sales I’m sure is not over yet, here’s a few tips for you to survived your shopping escapades;
Tip 1: Know What You Want
We’re only days away until the biggest shopping event of the year and the pros are out in the trenches scouting for what they want before the big deals break. Scour your favourite stores and make a list of what you want. Double your chances of scoring and start a folder of favourites online with links to each pick. This might come in handy later.
Tip 2: Head to the Mall
Before you head out, consider skipping the bustling streets for the mall. In this case the bigger the better is often the way to go. From food courts to coat check, the mega mall offers those bells and whistles we often shy away from. But if there’s a shop you love on the strip, coordinate a pick-up with a trusted friend because once the lot fills up you might as well turn around and head home.
Tip 3: Pack Light
Skip the extras and bring only the essentials. The latest map of the mall, a few protein bars (or a stop at the food court if you get really hungry), a water bottle and eco bags are all that you’ll need for the big day.
Tip 4: Travel in Pairs
Not everyone makes the cut. Be sure to pair up with your best fashion friend to survive the crowded malls and busy streets. You’ll both know where to go, what to look for and there will always be someone there to wait in the cash line while you shop. [Important: Shop with someone who has different taste than you!]
Tip 5: Dress Down
Today’s the day you can don your Uggs and leggings or Lululemon pants without making any type of fashion mistake. The comfy labels are perfect for trying on pieces that aren’t dressing room mandatory.
Tip 6: Bring Your Holiday Cheer
Did someone just elbow you for those well-heeled (and well-priced) pumps? Here’s a tip from Melissa Evans-Lee, Marketing Director at Bayview Village: “It’s one of the busiest shopping days of the year so bring your patience. If you go into this knowing that parking spots will be hard to come by, lines will be long and sizes will be limited, it will be a much more enjoyable experience.”
Tip 7: Cross The Finish Line
You’ve scoured the mall, marched the strip and called it a day but you’re forgetting something–online shopping! Sales expire at the stroke of midnight so if you’ve still got the energy, click through your favourite e-shops and find some affordable extras to finish off the year. These days, the deals on the web are the same as, if not better than, those in the store. Plus, you avoid the crowd. (Just beware of high traffic online–items can sell out quickly).
Tip 8: It’s Not Over Yet
If your battle wounds have healed and you’re still wishing for more, keep an eye out for week-long deals and sporadic flash sales. Retailers and online shops will have plenty of specials that go beyond the initial 24-hour blitz.
I’m sure this shopping tips comes very handy not only during sale season but whenever you decide to go shopping.
